DPS believes all students should have the same access to quality

schools, regardless of their background or where they live in Denver.

That’s what SchoolChoice is all about.

 

SCHOOLCHOICE 101

Any DPS student who wants to

attend a school other than their

automatically assigned neighborhood

school can take part in SchoolChoice.

(To determine your neighborhood

school, go to schoolfinder.dpsk12.org)

Families submit one SchoolChoice

form per student, on which they

rank their students’ top five school

preferences. DPS then matches

students to schools based on those

preferences, as well as school

admission priorities and available

space. The next SchoolChoice season

takes place Jan. 5-31, 2017 for the

2017-18 school year.

 

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:

 

Research: Learn more about schools

in which you might be interested. Use

the Great Schools Enrollment Guides

and SchoolMatch (schoolmatch.

dpsk12.org). Attend the Great Schools

Expo on Nov. 9 from 6-8 p.m. at Sports

Authority Field at Mile High, and tour

individual schools.

 

Prioritize: Be ready to fill out the

SchoolChoice form by ranking your

top five most-preferred schools in

order.

 

Complete: Fill out the entire

SchoolChoice form, including ranking

your top five schools, when it becomes

available on Jan. 5, 2017. Online

submission is recommended and is

available through a DPS Parent Portal

account (myportal.dpsk12.org). Paper

forms will be available at all DPS

schools and at Choice and Enrollment

offices. Printable forms will be

available at schoolchoice.dpsk12.org.

 

Submit: Turn in the signed and dated

form by 4 p.m. on Jan. 31, 2017 online,

at any school or the Choice offices.

The DPS SchoolChoice system is

designed to maximize the number

of students who are placed in their

most-preferred school. Letters and

emails notifying families of their

school placement will be sent in mid-

March.

estudiantes deben tener las mismas oportunidades de acceso a escuelas

de alta calidad, independientemente de sus antecedentes o de la zona de

Denver en que vivan. De eso trata el proceso EscojoMiEscuela.

 

 

ESCOJOMIESCUELA EN BREVE

Todos los estudiantes de DPS que

prefieran asistir a una escuela que

no sea la escuela de vecindario que

se les asigna en forma automática

pueden participar en el proceso

EscojoMiEscuela. (Visite schoolfinder.

dpsk12.org para informarse de cuál es

la escuela de su vecindario).

Las familias deben llenar un formulario

EscojoMiEscuela para cada estudiante.

En este formulario, indican las cinco

escuelas de su elección en orden

de preferencia. DPS asigna a los

estudiantes a una escuela de acuerdo

con dichas preferencias, las prioridades

de admisión de la escuela y los cupos 

disponibles. El período EscojoMiEscuela

para el año escolar 2017-18 tiene lugar

del 5 al 31 de enero de 2017.

Analice: obtenga más información

sobre las escuelas de su interés. Use

las Guías de inscripciones de escuelas

excelentes y el sitio web SchoolMatch

(schoolmatch.dpsk12.org). Asista a la

9 de noviembre, de 6 a 8 p. m., en el

High e infórmese sobre cada escuela en

particular.

Llene el formulario: llene el

formulario EscojoMiEscuela en su

totalidad, incluyendo las cinco escuelas

de su elección, en orden de preferencia,

a partir del 5 de enero de 2017. Se

recomienda que llene el formulario

en línea mediante una cuenta del

Portal para Padres de DPS (myportal.

dpsk12.org). Puede pedir un formulario

Opción e Inscripciones. También podrá
