Dear DCIS at Fairmont Families,
It is with great joy and pride that I write our last newsletter of the year! It has been a true privilege for me to serve our school this year. As a first-year principal, I thank you for your support and your understanding this year as we tried new things and worked diligently to put Students First! This year we worked to make incredible progress in academics working with a new reading assessment that gave us more information on how to support student learning putting us on track to exceed growth expectations in early literacy on the upcoming School Performance Framework.
We have filled almost every open position for the upcoming year and we are thrilled with the new faces that will be joining our DCIS at Fairmont family. Please check out our website this summer to see updated teacher biographies as they are submitted to us. Your first opportunity to meet teachers will be at our Ice Cream Social on August 19th from 4:00-5:30pm.
This upcoming year we have heard your feedback around communication and we will be working to refine our process for communication including adding a bi-monthly newsletter that will go out via email. If you are interested in receiving the email updates, please make sure to sign up during registration. In the Thursday folder, this week you will be receiving the calendar for the next academic year as well as supply lists for next year.
We have been in the thick of planning for next year since March and we are eager to continue to improve our school’s ability to meet the needs of all students. Next year, we will continue to dig deeper into instructional practices as a whole and working over the summer with teachers to create long term plans that will enable teacher sustainability and increase teacher effectiveness. We are so excited to share with you our summer progress at Open House in September.
Lastly, I want to close out by thanking our incredible teachers for their support, our fantastic PTA for all of the work they did this year to support teachers and families and our SAC Committee for their dedication to making difficult decisions this year that will put our students on a continued path to success. Thank you again for all that you do for our school. I could not do the work that I do without the support of the community.
