Dear Families,

We can’t believe that we are already in the first week of October! Our students have been doing a phenomenal job and we are so proud of what they have achieved in such a short amount of time. We have so many fun things coming up in October! We will be starting Global Villages next Friday and students and teachers are both eager to begin studying their new topics. This year Global Villages will span 15 weeks and take us into the second semester. Make sure to ask your student what they are learning! We will also be hosting our annual Haunted House and Carnival. We will send more details about the carnival and how you can volunteer and support our 5^th graders as they raise money for the overnight to Breckenridge in the spring. Thanks for all of your support!

Reminders and Announcements

 

·         Please be patient when picking up at the kiss and go we have had a few incidents where parents have been backing up out of the kiss and go and this is a huge safety concern for students and families.

·         Please be mindful of inside and outside days in the morning. Our office staff will post signs on the door letting parents and students know if it is an inside or outside day.

·         Please help us respect teacher’s time during the school day. If you need to see a teacher please make an appointment before or after school.

·         Please remember the designated drop off and pick up locations for your student’s grade level.

o    ECE/K/1/2 – Outside of teacher’s classroom doors. (ECE parents must enter classroom and sign in)

o    Grades: 3-5 In the quad area each teacher has a designated spot

 

NEW UNIFORMS and COLD WEATHER GEAR

Brrrrr….it’s getting cold outside!  We have long sleeve t-shirts available, crew neck sweatshirts and our newest addition for this year is hooded sweatshirts with our mosaic logo. Please see the office to purchase.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Dear Parents,

 

We believe that parent-teacher relationships are very important for academic success, for

that reason we would like to invite you to be a part of our Parent Teacher Workshop. This is a

parent involvement program that increases the communication and interaction between

parents and teachers to facilitate collaboration between school and family. Together we will

support the academic success of your child.

During our team meeting, we will:

✓ look at your child's beginning of the year test results

✓ compare that to end of the year goal

✓ set a goal to be met by conferences in November

✓ demonstrate two activities that you can use at home with your child

✓ have a chance to practice these activities during our meeting

✓ allow time to network with other parents in your own child's classroom

Another important aspect of meeting as a classroom team is the opportunity we will have to

build a trusting relationship. I look forward to meeting with you. Please contact me if you

Estimados Padres,

 

Creemos que las relaciones entre padres y maestros son muy importantes para el éxito

académico de los niños, por esa razón queremos invitarlos a ser parte de nuestro Taller Para

Padres de Familia y Maestros. Este es un programa para mejorar la comunicación e

interacción entre padres y maestros y para facilitar la colaboración entre la escuela y la

familia. Juntos podemos lograr el triunfo académico de su niña/o.

Durante nuestra reunión:

✓ revisaremos los resultados de los exámenes del principio del año

✓ compararemos estos a la meta para el final del año

✓ formar una meta que se lograra para las conferencias en noviembre

✓ les demostraremos dos actividades que podrán utilizar en casa

✓ tendrán la oportunidad de practicar estas dos actividades durante nuestra

reunión.

✓ Tendrán tiempo para hablar con otros padres de familia en el salón de su niño

Otro aspecto importante de nuestra reunión es la oportunidad que tendremos de cultivar una

Lock Down Drill/ Ensayo de Cierre

Dear Fairmont Families,

 

Today we had a Lockdown Drill.  A Lockdown of the building is called when there is a threat or a hazard inside of the building.  Lockdowns uses classroom security to protect students and staff from threat. 

Lockdown drills must be conducted within the first 30 days of a semester.  To initiate the Lockdown, an announcement is made. Then, teachers lock classroom doors, and staff and students go to an area of the room where they are out of site from anyone who may be inside the building.

Estimadas Familias de DCIS en Fairmont,

Hoy tuvimos un ensayo de  bajo absoluta restricción de acceso.  Un cierre del edificio se identifica como absoluta restricción de acceso. Esto significa peligro o amenaza adentro del edificio.   Este proceso utiliza la seguridad del salón para proteger a los estudiantes y personal  de peligro.

Estos tipos de ensayos  deben tomar inicio entre los primeros 30 días de cada semestre. Para iniciar el estado de cierre un anuncio  es transmitido por las bocinas. Después los maestros cierran con llave las puertas de los salones y el personal y los estudiantes se van a un área del salón donde están fuera de vista de cualquier persona que esté en el edificio.
