NEWS FROM
The Leadership Team
Volume 4 , Edition 15
Dear DCIS at Fairmont Families,
Happy Spring! We are mere weeks away from the end of the school year. Our students have made phenomenal progress this year that we were excited to share with you all at our State of the School PAC Coffee and Snack and Chat. We got great feedback from parents as well in terms of increasing parent engagement through the rest of the year and into next year. We are thankful for your feedback!
Some of the suggestions we received were:
· Holding an AM and PM Parent Coffee which we will do for our May PAC. We will send more details and a flyer next week with more information on our last PAC Coffee
· Continue to broadcast PAC Coffee through Facebook Live for parents who are not able to attend in person. Parents can go and see the video on our Facebook page after the event has taken place.
· Incorporating more use of email and gathering email addresses at registration next year
Diagnostic Quality Review
Our school was selected to receive a School Quality Review grant this year by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE). The grant is for $50,000 and runs from May 1st to September 31st. The grant calls for a team from Schoolworks, an educational consulting firm, to visit the school for a two and a half day visit in order to provide feedback to our school community within 4 weeks on ways we can better meet school and community needs. A portion of the grant is allocated by CDE to pay for the visit and the remaining amount will be spent by the school July-September to make changes as necessary to curriculum maps, professional development strategy for the year, and teacher stipends for time spent planning over the summer. We are in need of 6-8 parents who would like to be a part of a one hour focus group on either Wednesday 4/17 or Thursday 4/18. If you are interested, please call the office and leave your information with Lizzette or Dayana.
