NEWS FROM
The Leadership Team
Volume 4 , Edition 4
Dear DCIS at Fairmont Families,
Thank you so much for joining us during our Academic Parent Teacher Teams (APTT) last week. It was great to see the information that teachers shared with parents regarding end of year goals and in many cases fun activities that adults can use with students to help support them in their learning. During our first Parent Coffee this year this is one of the things that parents requested. Thank you for your feedback and we hope to keep implementing it throughout the year to improve our communication and partnership with families. If you were unable to attend APTT please reach out to your child’s teacher to set up a meeting time before or after school.

Fall Celebrations, Fall Festival, Haunted House, and More…
This year fall celebrations will take place in classrooms on October 31st in the afternoon. Please reach out to your child’s teacher for specifics. After much consideration, students will not be allowed to wear costumes to school on October 31st, but in lieu will be able to sport their craziest hairstyle for Crazy Hair Day. Students may wear costumes when they return in the evening for the Fall Festival and Haunted House on October 27th from 5:00-7:00pm
Our annual Fall Festival and Haunted House will take place on October 27 from 5-7 pm. We will have games, haunted house tours, and a free mask making stations! Come dressed in your Halloween best, ready to have a great time. All proceeds benefit the 5th graders overnight field trip to Breckenridge, CO. For more information, see the flyer in today’s Thursday folders!
We are very excited to announce that our PeaceJam club will be receiving an award on November 11th at the 20th anniversary celebration of PeaceJam. Last year, our jammers led a service project in which they gathered loads (3 full trucks, to be exact!) of supplies for the African Community Center (ACC), a local organization that welcomes refugees into Denver. They will be receiving the 2016 PeaceJam Rising Star award. In the words of Ivan Suvanjieff, PeaceJam President, “Sometimes we all forget that changing the world often begins with a simple idea, and one Act of Peace at a time. Thank you to DCIS at Fairmont for inspiring all of us to make a difference.” Please let Ms. Zimmerman know if you would like to attend the
awards event on November 11th. We would love to take families and students!
