Cough and Cold Season
It’s cough and cold season right now and we are seeing more of these illnesses currently do to the time of year. There are many different viruses that can cause colds. Normally the cold will run its course on its own; however, if your child complains of an earache, sore throat with fever, if the symptoms are lasting too long or becoming worse, you should call your child’s doctor.
There are things we can all do to help lessen the chance of spreading germs. It is always good to practice good hand hygiene. Make sure your child is washing his/her hands before they eat, after playing with other children, and more frequently at this time of year. Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs. Teach them to cover their mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing and sneezing. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
This is also a good time of the year to get you and your child vaccinated against the flu. The single best way to prevent the flu is to get a flu vaccine each year. If you would like more information on where you can get your flu shot, feel free to contact me.
