Dear DCIS at Fairmont Families,
It’s hard to imagine that it is already November! Our students are working full speed ahead. Fresh off of receiving our new SPF score we are hard at work brainstorming and problem solving with teachers on how to increase our effectiveness. One of the biggest ways that parents can help is by ensuring kids are at school ready to learn every single day. Attendance is a huge indicator that helps us determine how a student will do in school. Research suggests that chronic absenteeism, missing more than two days of school per month, can influence whether a child can read proficiently by the end of third grade or is held back. Our current attendance rate is at 93% and we want to continue to see that increase. Our goal is to average 95% attendance by the end of the year. The holidays are usually a time for low attendance for us and we are working to motivate students to be here everyday and we can’t do it without your help!

· Thank you to all of the families who joined us for the Fall Festival and Haunted House our 5th grade students raised about $2,000 all of which will go to offsetting the cost for all students for the overnight field trip to the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center. Students were able to fundraise about the same amount last year and were able to offset the cost from $150 to $60 per student.
· Whooo’s Reading Fundraiser- Last week our PTA sent out information regarding our 1st school-wide fundraiser for the year. The fundraiser focuses on reading and having students keep track of how much they are reading through an online portal. Reach out to Dana Davis if you have questions at danatrudavis@gmail.com
