Dear Families, Parents and Community Members!
It’s starting to look and feel like SPRING! That means it’s time again for the annual BAKER/DCIS Health Expo! What better way to spend your Saturday, April 15th, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm! This year we have a variety of resources and community connections and we hope that you can join us in getting our community informed and moving! Join us!
For our Nutrition area we will be making our homemade healthy breakfast burritos for everyone that attends. Sticky Fingers cooking class will be there and providing a hands on interactive table about their classes and cooking with kids. The Denver Botanical Gardens Farm Stands will also be there and will offer a FREE shopping experience with a completed expo-passport for the event! There will also be information about gardening, farm stand locations and ways to shop and cook healthy foods for you and your family.
Our Resource area will provide a free dental screenings for those who have Medicaid and the KIND Dental mobile unit will be here. The Denver Health Women’s Mobile unit will also be parked and available for screenings for women around pap smears and mammograms. See the office for details and information on insurance and requirements. Parks and Recreation and the Denver Library will also be there to give information and help you create a fun summer full of learning and engagement!
The Mind and Body area will have a class by Adriana Randón around Yoga and Art. Her YogArt class last year was a hit and she will be back again! Mental Health Services of Denver will be in attendance and I’mUnique will be providing an interactive area around changing the narrative of what mental health is and how we define it.
Finally, come take part in our exercise events. We will have a fencing event taking place from 9:00-9:45. Tai Chi with the Apprentice of Peace, Karate, Refit and a community yoga class to finish us off from 11:15-12:00. Let’s all come together and learn, grow, connect and engage around Health!
